Castelli is perhaps the hottest apparel brand in the industry thanks to the company’s ability to make technical pieces that look as stellar as they perform. We had a chance to check out Castelli’s Fall 2013 apparel lineup and wanted to show off a few of the highlights.
Some of the coolest updates in the fall lineup come in the base layer category, which is the most underrated piece of cycling kit. Taking design cues from Craft, the Flanders base layer, available in long sleeve, short sleeve and sleeveless, strikes a similar silhouette to Craft’s standard-setting Active Extreme products. The medium weight material through the body wicks sweat and provides a touch of insulation while the mesh fabric under the arms allows maximum heat transfer. Flat-lock stitching and a cycling specific cut make the Flanders base layer an instant classic that will be suitable for a wide range of temperatures.
The Trasparente Due Wind Jersey is one of our best-selling cold-weather tops with its windproof front panel and tailored fit. The design remains unchanged for 2013 but there are a few new colors, including orange, which looks to be a popular color throughout the line. For more on the Trasparente Due Wind Jersey, check out our full review.
The Misto Jacket is a fully seam sealed, waterproof jacket that maintains excellent breathability. The lightweight, stretchy fabric allows it to fold into a ball small enough to fit in your jersey pocket. As you can see from the image, it also has an abundance of reflective accents on the front and back to keep you visible in traffic.
Classic, understated, yet stylish and fully functional. That’s the best way to describe the long sleeve version of the Velocissimo Team Jersey, made of Castelli’s insulating Warmer fabric.
For the ultimate in rain protection, reach for the Diluvio Deluxe Glove. This neoprene glove is an improvement on the Diluvio Glove, which remains in the line, with a longer cuff and a more articulated finger construction for added dexterity.
If you want to look as good off the bike as on, check out the Pampeago Wool Jersey, which is made of a wool and acrylic blend. It has a soft feel with plenty of stretch. There are back pockets so you can ride in it, or just wear it around town.
Look for all of these products to be available around August of 2013.
