With plenty of new treads making the rounds at Quality Bike Product’s annual Frostbike product show, WTB’s new offerings still managed to gain plenty of traction, grabbing the attention of many. Grabbing the attention of most, however, was their brand new gravel specific tire, the Nano 40C.
“The inspiration for this tire actually came directly from this show one year ago,” acknowledged WTB’s Product Manager, Chris Feucht
“We were blown away by the number of requests we received for a gravel tire last year so we took a long, hard look at our tire line and decided to use the Nano tread pattern as a starting point. We wanted something that would appease racers due to its speed and light weight, yet also appeal to those wanting comfort over the long haul. By simplifying the pattern slightly, we’ve actually created a more durable tire while maintaining speed and the unique Nano handling characteristics, making for a winner.”
Taking its inspiration from one of WTB’s best-selling cross-country tires, the Nano 40c promises to offer a fast-rolling experience, but with its high-volume 40-millimeter-wide casing, it should offer plenty of cushion as well. Designed with the fast-growing gravel-grinder market in mind, the WTB Nano 40c promises to be a hot seller as soon as it hits stores later this year in April.
Even better, a tubeless-compatible TCS version of the 40c is already slated for release later in the year.
WTB Nano 40c tires will be available in Race and Comp versions, with Nano 40c Race tires featuring a folding Aramid bead, WTB’s “Lightweight Casing’, DNA Rubber and weighing in at 470g with an MSRP of $49.95. Nano 40c Comp tires will feature a wire bead, WTB’s ‘Durable Casing’, DNA Rubber, a 550 gram weight and a price tag of $31.95
