The Schwalbe Ultremo ZX signaled the beginnings of the real road tubeless wave at last year’s Interbike but, as road tubeless technology continues to advance and grow in popularity, Schwalbe has made it their mission to continue to improve tubeless performance year after year. The Schwalbe One Tire is the result of those efforts for 2013. It is faster and more durable than the Ultremo ZX and, if you’ve made the leap, it is the tubeless tire you should be riding this season.
To develop the “One” tire (to rule them all), Schwalbe created a dedicated factory, filled it with their best workers and enlisted the help of pro tour teams like RadioShack Leopard Trek, AG2R and FDJ to put it through the ringer. This tire was created to suit the needs of racers like Jens Voigt and he himself has attested to its amazing performance. A product personally endorsed by Jens Voigt you say? Shut up and take my money.
The Schwalbe One Tire is worth those pretty pennies too. We got to feast on our eyes on the tubular and tubeless versions on the Interbike showroom floor but it will be available in a clincher version as well to satisfy the casual enthusiast. Although it is slightly heavier than the Ultremo ZX (weight weenie gasps heard round the world), the weight gain is a welcome trade off for decreased rolling resistance, increased durability and improved grip under wet conditions. Plus it still weighs in at a very respectable 205 grams.
The speed is accomplished with the new OneStar Triple compound, the V-guard breaker strip keeps sharp objects from ruining your day, and tweaks to the profile and tread pattern give you bite in the corners and great performance with less than ideal road conditions.
The Schwalbe One Tubeless Tire will be available in 23, 25, and 28mm sizes to fit your needs and is bound to impress you this upcoming season.
