Our Castelli sales rep rolled through recently to show off the 2014 Fall collection. As always, Castelli impressed with a bunch of awesome new products and exciting color updates. Here’s a look at a few pieces that caught our eye.
The new Castelli Alpha Jacket is windproof and water resistant thanks to Gore’s Windstopper 150 material. But the real innovation on this jacket is the detached insulating layer which stays close to your body when you unzip the jacket so your core doesn’t get blasted with cold air. It’s a simple solution to an ages-old problem. The jacket will go for $350 and will be available in four colors.
The Alpha Wind Jersey features the same detached insulation layer found on the Alpha Jacket but has lighter weight materials that are more breathable for more moderate temperatures. This jersey will be available in two colors and is $240.
The Castelli Gabba Jersey is the pro peloton’s jacket of choice in rainy conditions, evidenced by the teams who used it despite not being sponsored by Castelli. The Gabba gets a few upgrades in 2014 including a covered zipper and better placed front vents. The Fawesome Vest has a stretchier material on the back for a better fit and to make it more packable. The Gabba Jersey and Fawesome Vest will both come in three colors and go for $200 and $130, respectively.
The Gabba Convertible Jacket can be worn as a jacket or jersey thanks to the removable sleeves. This “Drive Blue” color features prominently throughout the line. MSRP: $230.
The handsome Unavolta Jersey is made of a wool/polyester blend to give it a soft yet stretchy feel. Available in five colors, it will sell for $150.
The Women’s Cromo Jersey (left) has a floating inner layer similar to the Men’s Alpha Wind Jersey. The Illumina Jersey has a wind resistant fabric on on the chest for extra protection.
