It’s an exciting time in the cycling world right now, what with the Mountain Bike World Championships just wrapping up, along with the US Pro Challenge, and the last of the Grand Tours in it’s second week, for which we present our Vuelta a Espana giveaway—don’t miss out! Here’s a look at what we think is cool and relevant this week.
The tame and pedal-friendly lower sections of this year’s World Champs downhill course in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa saw racers riding long travel trail bikes, and representing all three wheel sizes. This had the MTB world in a tizzy looking for an answer to the oh-so-important question of which wheel size is best? Due to crashes and mechanicals, the showdown never occurred, with Greg Minaar repeating as World Champ aboard his 26″-wheeled Santa Cruz V10. For now, 26″ diehards are claiming we won’t get fooled again, but it’s only a matter of time before we tip our hats to the new revolution. Today however, we must meet the new boss, the same as the old boss.
Here is two-time World Champ and DH legend Greg Minaar’s story. This is twenty minutes long, so maybe save it for lunch…
Let’s take a listen inside the helmet of Mathias Frank of Team BMC at the US Pro Challenge Time Trial stage.
Everyone’s favorite hardman Jens Voight is just as stoked as anyone when he gets a new bike.
And finally, something that we never have to do because Aaron McGovern did it for us with his helmet cam.
