Are You Ready to Roll Even Higher?

Hear ye, hear ye! All my big wheeled brethren, all those hammerers of huge, the day you have waited for hath cometh. Maxxis’ celebrated High Roller II 29er and Minion DHF 29er tires are finally available at Art’s Cyclery. Steve Peat is certainly a fan of the High Roller II. Check it.

The first Maxxis High Roller was an incredibly popular tire geared strictly towards skilled Downhillers. Maxxis has tweaked the design with the High Roller II, creating a versatile tire perfect for the All Mountain/Enduro category. You could even use it as Downhill secret weapon for sloppy terrain like Peaty does. The more aggressive tread pattern with added siping offers predictable and consistent performance for all rider levels. The ramped center knobs offer a fast rolling ride and consistent braking ability. Maxxis also tweaked the knob profile to aid transitioning from the center knobs to the side knobs to inspire even more confidence in the turns.

Minion DHF 29erPerhaps even bigger news than the Highroller II 29er is the Minion DHF 29er. As the tire made famous by Sam Hill and his impressive string of downhill victories, the Minion DHF is the most popular mountain bike tire ever made for aggressive riders. Maxxis went all the way with the DHF 29er and made it in a full 2.5″ width! That’s right, real big boy tires for 29er riders have finally appeared after… ten years! The casings are made for aggressive riding too. Both a standard EXO tubeless ready version and a dual ply DH casing tubeless ready version is available. If you ride in the rocks like we do here in San Luis Obispo, California this tire is the one you have been waiting for. Dual compound rubber is standard on the Minion DHF 29er with an optional 3C version coming soon.

Not only are the High Roller II and Minion DHF fantastic tires, but they have huge implications for 29ers. Finally large diameter disciples have a suitable tire for All Mountain and Enduro riding. It is only a matter of time before we start seeing more versatile big wheeled bikes like the ridiculously impressive Specialized Enduro 29. And what a magical time it will be.
