Art’s Cyclery Employee Bike Check

Art’s Employee: Bri Mommer
Position: Customer Service Representative
Bike: 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 29

If I learned one thing this past weekend at the Specialized-Lululemon ride (part of the Women’s Cycling Association‘s JoinTheRide Tour), it was that I severely underestimated some of my fellow cyclists. It doesn’t matter if you are on the mountain or the road, women can shred on any and every type of bike. A constant reminder of that fact is one of our very own Customer Service Representatives, Briana Mommer. Bri [Bree], as she is known around these parts, has been a vital member of the Art’s crew since 2011 and has raced both road and mountain competitively in the past. An absolute demon on the trails and yet a perfect angel on the sales floor, Bri makes the phrase, “you just got chick’d” a little bit easier to cope with. Maybe one day her name will grace the roster of the Specialized-Lululemon squad, but for now she is content with bombing the local single-track on her Specialized Stumpy.

The dropper post is a must.

About the Build: Bri thought the women’s specific Specialized Safire was pretty trick but she wanted a bike that was a little more aggressive to fit her riding style. The 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp proved to be the perfect fit. Bri also prefers the shifting quality of Shimano to SRAM so she swapped out the SRAM rear derailleur, shifters, and cassette for Shimano SLX. Not a bad swap in my opinion. Bri also made the necessary adjustments to get her rig trail ready, equipping her Stumpy with a Specialized Command dropper seat post and setting up her Purgatory and Control tires tubeless. The RockShox Revelation fork gives her plenty of adjustment to soak up rough terrain while an XC mini-riser bar answers her need for speed and Crank Brothers Candy 1 pedals keep her locked in and ready to crush it.
